Intermittent Fasting

“Everything old is new again”

So in recent years, there is a “new” rage in the nutrition community, and it centers around the concept of fasting.
But, fasting, in any form is not actually new.

Fasting is going without a food or a group of foods or food at all for a period of time.

I’ve always thought it just sounded like STARVING and was just about discipline for religious purposes or pre-surgery or something.

But it turns out that this age-old practice has some current day applications for improved health.

We’ve talked before about the problem of too much insulin from a glucose-oriented modern diet.

One of the best benefits of fasting is that curiously, it will reset and increase insulin sensitivity (trust me this is good!)

Intermittent Fasting

This type of fasting is based on regular intervals of feeding and not eating over the course of a day, week or month. One of the most popular ways of doing it is to fast from the time of your last meal (6pm) and for the next 18 hours (until noon the next day). Then you can consume all your macros in your “feeding window” from Noon to 6pm each day.

Adding fasting even occasionally to your Keto or LCHF program will enhance your results and help your body to work more effectively and efficiently.
